ABOUT TONE LAB AI
Tone Lab AI helps you shape your guitar sound with plain-language requests and browser controls. Read your USB-connected Katana, adjust its amp and built-in effects, and review every proposed change before applying it.
Apply changes your current tone. Choose Write to device to save it in a model-specific amplifier preset after reviewing the overwrite.
Original Katana, original KATANA:GO, and GO:2 bass mode are currently unavailable.
AI tone suggestions use your own OpenAI API key and API billing, or an Anthropic API key and API billing for Claude. Manual controls, amplifier reads, and restoration do not need a key. Your browser sends AI requests directly to the selected provider. Keys stay in page memory unless you explicitly choose to remember a separate key for each provider in this browser.
Use desktop Chrome or Edge with Web MIDI and SysEx permission, and open the hosted app over HTTPS. Safari and browsers on iPhone or iPad do not provide the required Web MIDI access. GO:2 use with Android Chrome still needs hardware testing.
Yes. Describe the artist, song, or sound you want, and optionally include your guitar and pickup type. Tone Lab uses a built-in gear library and can research artist or song gear with compatible OpenAI or Claude models. Suggested Katana settings are starting points to review and adjust by ear.
Recent changes keeps local restoration records for mapped controls. Preview a restore, then apply it to return those controls to their previous values. This history is stored in your browser and is not a complete amplifier patch backup.
Tone Lab AI is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by BOSS or Roland. Use the matching BOSS Tone Studio application for full editing and portable Librarian backups.
